1. What is Graphic Design?

Graphic design is a form of visual communication using text and images that is used to represent an idea or a concept. It involves creation of logos, visiting cards, posters, banners, sign boards, flyers, icons, and greeting cards.

2. What does a graphic designer do?

Graphic designers creatively communicate ideas. They make use of the visual elements like colors, images, charts and graphs, and other visual cues to create a wide array of communication projects.  These projects range from logo design, company brochure, business card, advertising, newsletter, to training and educational materials. A graphic designer is also referred to as a graphic artist.

3. What are the most common graphic design software programs?

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Free Hand, and Corel Draw are the frequently used graphic design software programs. There is no single best graphic design software program. However, there are specific programs that are better suited for certain tasks than others.

4. What are 3D Graphic Arts?

3D Graphic Arts, also known as computer graphic animation uses computer graphics to create lifelike 3-dimensional images for computer and video games, and web and movie animations. 3D computer animation techniques help in creating more realistic figures and smoother motion, when compared to 2D animation. Hence 3D animation techniques are considered to be more sophisticated than 2D animation techniques.

5. What is a good piece of graphic design?

A design is said to be successful when the viewer finds the design to be appealing. The viewer may respond in different ways. The response can range from a person making a decision to purchase a new product to evaluating a brand. It can also be an emotional response, such as laughter, or even shock. A good design should communicate the intended message effectively.

6 Why are Complementary Colors important in Color Theory?

Complementary colors are placed opposite to each other on the color wheel. When compared to other color schemes, this color scheme produces a stronger contrast and draws maximum attention. When placed next to each other, complementary colors appear brighter, and more intense. The shadow of an object contains its complementary color.

7. Is it necessary to have drawing skills to be a graphic designer?

It is not necessary to be good at drawing to be a graphic designer. Many professional graphic designers and art directors do not possess accurate technical or representational drawing skills. But it is necessary for a graphic designer to be able to select and arrange text and graphic elements within a page format
